Playa del Carmen

If you feel like getting away from the neon lights and liveliness of Cancun, the Feel Summer team recommend Playa del Carmen. This is a beautiful beach paradise located along the Caribbean Sea and 45 minutes from the Hotel Zone in Cancun, known for its white sand and turquoise waters. Playa is the best of both worlds; you can relax during the day and still enjoy some nightlife when the sun sets.

Playa del Carmen in the Riviera Maya was once a small fishing village, but now it has become one of the best towns to visit in Mexico. The famous, Fifth Avenue is a pedestrianised street, which is busy with shops, restaurants and bars to spend your evening exploring. If you are looking for accommodation to spend time in Playa del Carmen, there are plenty of hotels in Playacar.

Nightlife

While Playa del Carmen is not as wild as Cancun, there is still plenty of fun at the beach clubs during the day and when the sun goes down, the tourists come out to play in the bars and clubs. Over the last few years new bars and nightclubs have emerged to suit the tourists, including Feel Summer favourites like Coco Bongo, Mandala and Palazzo.

The infamous Senor Frogs has a bar in Playa del Carmen, which is just as fun as its sibling in Cancun. Here you can enjoy unbeatable beach views and delicious food during the day and party games and cold beverages when the sun goes down. There is even a trampoline and an oxygen bar, as well as a live DJ blasting the best dance music.

La Vaquita is where everybody goes to have a good time. You will find this open-air bar serving drinks and playing loud music until 5am, with wet t-shirt contests and crowds dancing on the street. This is the place where anything goes. Don’t forget to have your photo taken with the trademark cow that dances around the club!

If you are interested in live rock music, then Kitxen is the place to be. Located on Fifth Avenue, this venue boasts live music every night and the open-air bar is laid back and casual. For a chilled-out vibe, check out Deseo. This is one of the coolest bars in Playa del Carmen, with big mattresses and silent movies playing, while smooth music from the DJ plays in the background. What a great way to socialise with friends!

At the Blue Parrot, you can witness a mesmerising fire show, as well as dancing the night away on the beach. The bar even has swings you can enjoy! One thing’s for sure, you won’t be able to resist the catchy reggae music and are sure to sing along to the popular 70, 80 and 90s hits.

With stylish décor and sparkling chandeliers, Palazzo is the most glamourous nightclub in Playa del Carmen, which is sure to host an enjoyable night. You will find international DJs during the summer, as well as Mardi Gras and other fun themed nights throughout the season. With an open bar option, you can make the most of your holiday. Be sure to dress up for this occasion!

Another firm favourite for the Feel Summer team is Mandala. This cosmopolitan nightclub is one of the most popular venues in Playa del Carmen, with good music and delicious drinks. There is even a rooftop terrace with a bar and dance floor for an epic open-air experience.

Of course, how could we forget Coco Bongo; no trip to Playa del Carmen is complete without it! Here you will find acrobat shows, dancers, confetti and an electric atmosphere. In addition, watch out for Beetlejuice and the Mask impersonators! This is a show you will never forget and there is nothing like it.
